Navratri Puja Vidhi for the Year 2023

Navratri Puja Vidhi for the year 2023 focuses on the 9 Devi pujas of each day of Navratri as mentioned above. But the first and foremost step in the process of celebrating Navratri with complete faith and devotion and performing the Navratri puja for 9 days includes the Ghatsthapana process.

The Navratri Kalash sthapana vidhi commonly known as the Ghatsthapana Vidhi involves taking pot and covering it with a lid. You can store water in the pot which will be kept untouched for 9 days. You should also take some keep jo (jowar/sorghum) dhan in the Navratri puja samagri and then at the end of the 9 days sow it in the sand.

When performing puja at home during Navratri it is important that the puja vidhi being performed should be to the specific Devi of that day which is one of the prime examples. For example, after the ghatsthapna on day 1, the puja is dedicated to Shailputri Mata. Similarly, on the next day, the puja vidhi is dedicated to Brahmcharini Mata. It is on the eighth day i.e. on Ashtami that Goddess Durga is worshipped in her own form.

It is important to note that the Navratri puja vidhi is to be performed three times – from the morning, afternoon, and evening. The only difference between the first and the rest of the days is the Navratri sthapana muhurat puja vidhi. Since the ghatsthapana puja vidhi is to be done on the first day this puja vidhi is to be carried out only on the first day.

Generally, whenever the pandals are prepared the Puja Vidhi is performed for five days. The puja starts from panchami and continues till the Durga idol visarjan on Vijaydashmi. Later on the day of Vihaydashmi or Dussehra, the puja vidhi is performed before moving out for Visarjan.
