The master bedroom is the main room of a house, and it must be occupied by the head of the family. This is a room which should always be bigger from other rooms in the house.
The most preferred direction for the master room should be South-West as it provides strength to the head of the family.
Another important aspect of this room is the direction of the bed placed inside it, which should also be in the south, west, or south-west.
Bedrooms should always be kept empty, no trash or any other useless items should not be placed in this.
A bedroom should always have one door, and the door should not directly be in front of the bed.

The bathroom should not be constructed in front of the bed, and their doors should always be kept closed.
It is advisable not to place mirrors in front of the bed, it radiates back negative energy.
Always switch off the TV or computer at night, they emit radiation.
While sleeping one should not place his/her legs towards South or South-West as it’s not recommended and causes sleeplessness.
Always place your dressing table in the North or East wall.
A bedroom in the west can be used by children, whereas if a bedroom is in the East direction, then they must be used by unmarried children or guests.

The Ideal Bed Position

It is imperative to sleep with one’s head towards the south or east so that the legs are towards north or west direction to maintain good health, longevity and prosperity. Never sleep with your head in the north as the magnetic field of the body interferes with the Earth’s magnetic field. Bed made of wood is best as metal beds can create negative vibrations. The bed position according to Vastu should be along the main wall so that there is enough moving space. The headboard should be against the wall, leaving the other three sides free. Placing nightstands on either side of the bed allows for symmetry.

Impact of Ceilings

The height of the bedroom ceiling should be ideally 10 feet as low ceilings create poor circulation of air. Mirrors should never be used on the ceiling designs as they reflect the bed. According to Vastu, the ceiling should be in white or any light shade as it attracts positive energy and leads to serenity. Dark ceilings are not advised as they retain negative energy. If there is a beam running above the position where the head is placed during sleeping, it is better to create a false ceiling.

Vastu for Master Bedroom with Attached Bathroom

A bathroom that is attached to the master bedroom, should be located in the South-West direction of the house, ideally. It is a must to ensure bathroom doors are always kept closed, as to not affect the aura negatively. Beds should not be placed close to the bathroom or toilet space, however in a small apartment this may not be possible. In such a situation the position of the bed should be such that it does not recline against the bathroom wall.

Vastu for Windows or Balcony

The best positions for bedroom windows is on the east and north wall. Never keep a window open behind the head, when sleeping. Use light coloured curtains to control the impact of natural sunlight. Whether there are windows or a balcony attached to the bedroom, ensure the door opens outwards and not into the bedroom.

The study desk or workstation should be positioned such that one faces the north or east direction while working. This also ensures that natural sunlight boosts health and provides positive energy in the room.

Doors

Do not place doors to open directly in front of the bed. Doors should open at 90 degrees into the bedroom & should not make creaking noises.

Mirrors and Dressers

A frequent question asked to vasu expersts is where to place dressing table in bedroom as per vastu. The dressing table can be placed next to the bed according to Vastu as the mirror does not reflect the bed or the sleeping persons. The mirror should be placed above the ground but never on the ceiling.

Wardrobe and Storage spaces

According to Vastu Shastra the wardrobe, safe box and jewellery must be kept in the north direction, as this is the direction of Lord Kubera. Whether it is a multi-door wardrobe or a single door almirah or bureau, the storage space should be made of iron or wood.

Use light coloured bed sheets – off white, pink, light purple, beige, pale greens and blues enhance the decor and also bring positivity. Avoid strong geometrical designs in maroon,red, black or blue colour on bed sheets.

Effect of Indoor Plants

Keep natural air purifiers like money plant, peace lily, snake plant or lavender in the bedroom for cleaner air and to induce a tranquil aura. You can place it either on the right side or left side of the bed,but it should never be kept near the headrest or footrest.
