Upanayanam means a child or a boy starts to study the Vedic by wear sacred thread on a particular day to start learning. The childbirth date is considered while performing the Upanayana that proclaims Rasi, Nakshatra, and Tithi to perform the upanayana with Karma benefits. This ritual has to perform by wearing the thread, but it divides into Two Punul marriages.
Upanayanam is a Vedic ritual of life especially for Brahmins, mentioned following Vedic stipulation of Sandhya Vandhanam, Gayathri mantra of everyday life for the improvement of spiritual process in the child.
Religious Significance of Upanayanam
Apart from marriage, upanayana is the most important religious observance in Vedic culture. Usually performed for male members of the first three varnas, it is one of the Sixteen samskaras. This spiritual initiation is traditionally done at tender years. Upanayanam in ancient times marked the induction of a child into formal education by the Gurukula system. The person was termed dwija ( twice-born), as the second intellectual birth of a person was by a guru in the father's place and the sacred Gayatri Mantra in the mother's place. The vatu not only learned Veda mantras but also taught many Kalas(skills and art forms) and vidya (education).
