Introduction
The Hanuman Chalisa is in itself a way of communicating with the most revered Lord Pawan Putra Hanuman, with each verse connecting the soul of the reciters to their lord.
It was composed by the great Hindu poet-saint Tulsi Das, a renowned devotee of Lord Rama while suffering from ailments. It helped him regain his health. He wrote this classic verse attributed to Lord Hanuman in the Awadhi dialect, conversed particularly in Ayodhya which is Lord Rama’s native place.
The Chalisa, consisting of 40 verses, truly personifies a Hanuman devotee’s faith, submission, and sanctity towards their beloved Lord.Â
Significance of Hanuman Chalisa
As quoted by Krishna Das, a renowned musician and guru – “Chalisa’ is not merely a devotional song. Lord Hanuman symbolizes the path that leads us to our real identity. And ‘Chalisa’ is a message, a mantra that draws him into our hearts.”
It is said that reciting the Hanuman Chalisa continuously for 40 days provides refuge from illness, enemies, and hard times. Moreover, consistent chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa helps in cleansing our mind & body, leading us to the right path. One can also get rid of the malicious influence of Saturn and Mars (mangal dosh). For maximum effectiveness, chant the Chalisa 108 times on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
